Dear Dairy,
My mother-in-law works for an airline, and recently she got me free tickets to fly to and from our hometown, so that I could attend a funeral. My plan was to fly in, attend the memorial, and fly out that same evening – but you know how plans are. I ended up needing to stay overnight at my in-laws.
My mother-in-law is very hospitable. But she went a little overboard.
She insisted on trying to find a nightgown to fit me. She’s 5’3, and she’d probably wear a size 4 if she didn’t insist on every garment being loose and ankle-length. I, on the other hand, am 5’6, and a size 16.
She kept piling nightgowns on the guest bed with tags that clearly read, “Small.” “This one has buttons,” she’d say. “You can’t get into THAT!?”
After way too many polite refusals from me, she finally gave up and left me alone for the night.
I ended up sleeping in just my undies – which her son prefers anyway.
Sincerely,
Annoyed
