Last week I purchased a new blush I’ve been super excited to try. The next day, while fumbling around to open it, I watched it shatter on the floor in slow motion…

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve dropped one of my blushes, eyeshadows, had to throw away a clumpy mascara or walked in the bathroom to find Narayan breaking one of my beloved lipsticks!

After replacing my products a few times and realizing there has to be a way to repair broken makeup and clumpy mascara without spending money to replace them, I started using these 3 hacks:

How to fix Broken Lipstick

LIPSTICK

supplies: candle, q-tip or tissue, refrigerator

Twist the lipstick tube up as much as possible and set aside.

Light a candle and place the broken piece of lipstick over the flame for a few seconds in order to soften.

Using your fingers to mold the broken lipstick with the part that’s still in the tube, gently rub your fingers around the cracked area to help mold and blend the separate pieces together.

Use a q-tip or tissue to clean up the edges.

Refrigerate for 30 minutes before using.

POWDERS

supplies: q-tip, paper towel, water

Break a q-tip in half, then use the non-cotton end to crush the remaining product in the compact so everything is in powder form.

For smaller eyeshadows and blushes, add 3 drops of water. For larger compacts, add 6 drops of water.

Using the same non-cotton end of the q-tip, mix the powder with the water to achieve a paste-like texture. (Add additional water drops if needed).

Using a paper towel, cover the compact and gently press down with your hand to give the powder a flat surface finish. (Note: The design/texture of the paper towel will imprint on the powder, so choose accordingly).

Let the powder dry thoroughly, then clean-up edges of the compact using the cotton end of the q-tip.

Place the tube of mascara in the mug and let sit for 5 minutes.
