A recent conversation with one of my best girlfriends brought us both to a harsh realization: we’ve become unexciting and unsexy- or at least not as sexy and exciting as our former, pre busy mama selves.
Like so many other mothers and wives, keeping up with the demands of life has taken over our ability to keep ourselves up. Doing hair and makeup, wearing perfume and even getting dressed some days has become a chore!
Date night’s are rare and the only quality time we spend with our hubbies is when we’re away on vacation. What had become of our former exciting, makeup loving, perfume-wearing, glam-craving selves?! In a state of panic, we decided it was time to get our sexy back.
For me that meant planning an actual date night with Dave where we didn’t talk about work or our boys, in addition to wearing something that made me feel sexy and ooze confidence. Naturally, I chose a peek-a-boo lace dress, the highest heels in my closet and put on a smidge more makeup than my usual bold lip.
At the end of the day, there’s no better feeling than knowing your life, family and career is taken care of. But in the midst of caring for everyone else, we often forget about ourselves, and there’s nothing healthier and more empowering than feeling good about yourself!
