Innovations in plus size fashion are few and far between, but once in a while a company comes along that just gets it! When I first heard about Dia & Co’s styling and box service I realized right away that Dia was different. With an online personal styling service for women sizes 14 and up, they take the time to get to know you, then send hand-select clothing and accessories to match your personal style and fit your body. And with amazing people leading their mission to inspire radical self-acceptance through style, I had to try it for myself!

Upon registering on the website, you’re asked a series of questions in a Style Profile related to personal style, body type, likes, dislikes, lifestyle and budget. You can even link to a Pinterest Board and/or send images of any items you’d like or silhouettes you want to try! Your complete Style Profile is then sent to a personal stylist who handpicks clothing and accessories based on all the information in your profile.

In each box, you receive five items – for instance, I received 2 tops, a skirt, a dress and a pair of jeans (they even  send an accessory on occasion). After receiving the box, you have five days to try everything on in the privacy of your own home and in the context of your wardrobe. You keep what you love, send back what you don’t and you’re only charged for the items you keep. There’s a $20 styling fee for each box styled for you, which is then applied to any items you keep and you can break or pause your Dia plan at any time – shipping is free and easy both ways. 

What I love about Dia is not only the message behind the service, but also the fact that the company really is doing their part to #MoveFashionForward, which is something I’ve advocated since I first started Girl With Curves back in 2011. The #MoveFashionForward campaign, which calls attention to the fashion industry ignoring the average woman (who the media refers to as “plus size”) for far too long is genius, and they truly care about making a difference. Dia stylists take the time to really get to know you and your style – everything in my recent box fits perfectly into my existing wardrobe! They read every note and do their best to fulfill every request, even taking note of special occasions for future boxes. (I received a bouquet of flowers and a birthday-worthy party dress on my birthday last month)!
