1. Keep Negative Thoughts in Check
Many times, we are our own harshest critics. If you notice any negative self-talk, pause for a moment to counter the negative thought with a positive one. Look in the mirror and be real with yourself about how you’re feeling. Then, compliment yourself in some way: Call out a body part you particularly love and tell yourself you’re beautiful inside and out. Doing this regularly will lift you into the body-confident space where you belong and get you through that stressful trip to the mall.
2. Reflect on How You Feel
Before you buy a piece of clothing, really take a moment to think about how it makes you feel. If it makes you feel amazing, buy it; if not, move on! There’s no need to buy something that highlights your least favorite body part, makes you feel uncomfortable, or simply doesn’t fit. Everything you wear should make you feel confident and beautiful, and I assure you, there are tons of pieces out there that can do both.
3. Try Something New
The best way to get out of your comfort zone is to try something new — whether it’s by wearing clothing you never thought you’d even try, or a color you never thought you looked good in. Reminding yourself that you and your body is capable of looking and feeling different is a great way, can change your mindset and boost your overall confidence when shopping and beyond!
4. Radiate Positivity
What you think of yourself is the opinion that matters most, and it also sets the tone for how others perceive you. If you practice radiating positivity and letting your inner beauty shine through, I guarantee you’ll notice a difference in how you feel in your clothes and body. There will be no room for negative talk, from yourself or others, if you lead with the positive light that’s within you. So the next time you set out to find that special dress or the perfect winter coat, think of how amazing you’re going to look and feel when you walk into a room wearing it.
