As someone who admittedly has way to much “stuff” in her closet, I’m constantly thinking of ways to revamp pieces in my wardrobe vs always buying new. And now that it’s fall, I’m taking a long, hard look at all my coats in the back of the closet, doing my best to rework them in different ways before deciding it’s time to part ways.
One of my favorite ways to breathe new life into a coat is wearing it as dress!
The key to making this work, is wearing one that buttons all the way down, like I’m wearing here. Fasten all the buttons and belt it with the belt that’s attached, or add one.
Here, I also added a collared blouse and a skirt underneath the coat, and I let the blouse peak out a bit at the neckline, as well as the sleeve, to add interest and break up the camel. But another major piece of pulling off this look is making sure whatever you’re wearing underneath — skirt or dress, is shorter than the coat, so the coat looks more like a dress.
I hope this helps you get more use out of that old coat in the back of your closet!
