To be completely honest, I can still wearing sandals most days since it hasn’t quite cooled down in the SF Bay Area,  so I haven’t been able to break out my fall footwear collection just yet. But that doesn’t mean I can’t tell you what I’ve got my eye on for cooler days ahead!  There were a lot of fun shoe trends on the fall runways, but like I always say, not all trends are meant to be must-haves. To cut through the clutter, here are the pairs I plan on wearing most in the coming months.

THE FANCY BOOTIE

I love that pearl details, fun textures like velvet, and jacquard floral fabrics made their way onto booties this fall. They may seem over the top, but this trend is actually great for anyone who wants a fashion forward look without a lot of time investment. With a fancy bootie, you can keep your outfit super simple and let your shoes do the talking.

THE MULE

Good news: Slides are here to stay, and I’m excited to slip into close-toed versions with block heels for fall. They look great with cuffed jeans and cropped culottes, and can even work with tea length dresses and pencil skirts. Besides, who doesn’t love a comfy shoe?!

THE SLINGBACK

If you love a classic goes-with-everything shoe, this one’s for you. It’s just as elegant and versatile as a pointed toe flat, but feels more youthful and current because of the various heel height options. Wear them with color-blocked work wear, a mixed-print dress in corresponding colors, or my favorite – a basic tee and jeans.

THE BRIGHT WHITE STATEMENT

Remember that old saying, “Never wear white after Labor Day”? Well, forget about it! From pumps to boots, white is the “it” color for fall. Like black shoes, white footwear goes with just about anything, but it’s way more unexpected. Try white pumps with a bold print skirt or white booties with skinny black jeans and a moto jacket – they instantly add some extra edge.
