How I Celebrate Mother's Day Every Year

Every year when Mother’s Day rolls around, I get to pick a place for our family to spend quality time. This year we decided to celebrate before the actual day this Sunday in order to beat the weekend crowds, and I chose our family’s favorite place and annual Mother’s Day outing: Capitola. Narayan’s obsessed with building sand castles and we all like to join in the fun, so off to the beach we went, coordinating outfits and all!

Old Navy’s been one of my go-to’s for years in terms of finding great options for myself and the whole family. With a growing toddler who constantly needs new clothes, it’s so convenient to get of-the-moment items at amazing prices for Narayan especially. In honor of Mother’s Day weekend, my friends at Old Navy asked us to showcase how we’re celebrating the day in style, along with our interpretation of this month’s trend focus: Havana Prep. I personally love anything inspired by the colorful energy of Cuba – my favorite being clean, preppy stripes and bold color.

Given my undying love for stripes, I couldn’t say no to this maxi dress paired with what I call elevated flip-flops (not the rubber kind!), which are perfect for spending the afternoon on or off the beach. I love how Narayan’s tee mimics the stripes in my dress without being too matchy matchy, and he’s obsessed with the fun elephant print, which just so happens to be his favorite animal!
