We’ve been talking a lot about updating your fall wardrobe lately, so now comes part two of the equation: refreshing your makeup!

I tend to keep my daily look pretty simple, but I do make some changes to my routine as each new season unfolds. Keeping in mind how the weather affects your skin and the new wardrobe color palette you’ll be wearing, here are six quick and easy ways to update your makeup look for fall.

For Fall Go For Deeper Tones via @GirlWithCurves
1. Go for Deeper Lip Tones

Switching up your lip color is a foolproof way to entirely change your look in just a few seconds. Fall is a great time to experiment with shades that are darker than you usually wear, like deep plum, chocolate, crimson, or dark eggplant. If you feel like a bold lipstick is too harsh for your skin tone or personal style, try a lip tint or stain in a dark berry color and layer it to your liking.

2. Up the Bronzer
You may think of bronzer as a summer makeup staple, but during the fall and winter is when you need it the most! Choose a slightly lighter shade than you would use during the summer because your natural skin tone will likely fade as you spend less time outdoors during colder months, and you don’t want the bronzer to look too dark. Use it to contour your face, play up your cheekbones, and even as an eye shadow.

3. Keep Your Eyeshadow Warm

Warmer tones like gold and reddish browns aren’t just seasonal colors, they also make your eyes look more open. Plus, they look great on everyone, regardless of eye color or skin tone! If you usually wear black liner, try a shimmery brown along your lash line, or try a deep gold on your eyelids and crease for a night out.

4. Change Your Blush Formula
As the weather changes and gets colder, your skin will likey dry out a little more. To keep your face looking supple and hydrated, switch from powder blush to a cream or tinted balm formula. Or if you’d rather use up the rest of your powder blush before buying a new product, apply it as usual and dab a little face oil or moisturizer on top with a beauty blender to give your cheeks a subtle, healthy glow.

5. Exfoliate Your Lips

Pay extra attention to your lips as the weather gets colder because, like the rest of your face, they’re more likely to dry out. Keep them smooth and naturally plump by gently exfoliating them daily. Use a product like Fresh Sugar Lip Polish to get the job done, or do it the old fashioned way with lip balm on a soft bristled toothbrush.

6. Switch to Waterproof Eyeliner and Mascara
Do your eyes tend to water when the wind blows, it’s too cold out, or your allergies flare up? Then make sure to have waterproof mascara and eyeliner in your bag! All it takes is one gust of wind to give you raccoon eyes, so it’s best to be prepared.
