I took this outfit with me to New York last week, but wasn’t able to wear the skirt and flats thanks to the unexpected snow storm. But instead of completely dismissing the outfit I packed, I swapped the skirt and flats for these heattech leggings, jeans and sneakers I took just in case- good thing I was prepared with options!
Luckily, the weather in California is cold enough for layers but warm enough for bare legs, so I was able to wear the original outfit over the weekend in my hometown. With the temperature settling right around 55 degrees fahrenheit over the past few weeks, I’ve been experimenting with a few new layering tricks to stay warm without sacrificing style.
An easy way to keep things fashionably interesting in colder climates, is layering different textures and colors. This chambray button down is the perfect modern-classic for layering underneath sweaters of any kind, and this ruffle embellished pullover is a great of-the-moment style in a timeless color. But the layering doesn’t stop there! To up the warmth factor, I’m also wearing my fave cami and this heattech long sleeve tee underneath, finishing off an easy layered effect that functions in style and comfort in the cold.

WINTER LAYERING TRICK
To stay warm without sacrificing style, I layered a camisole, long sleeve heattech tee, chambray button down and sweater.
When I couldn’t go bare legged in NY, I swapped the skirt for jeans and added heattech leggings underneath- trust me, it works! Even in a snow storm with a low of 22 degrees fahrenheit, I was comfortably warm.
