I’m headed off to New York Fashion Week in a few days! While I’m excited to share the outfits I’ll be wearing during the actual shows and events (keep an eye out for those next week on instagram and facebook!), I also wanted to show you an outfit that’s just as important to master: what to wear when you’re traveling.
If you’re a frequent flier like I am, having a go-to look is a must. Knowing what you’ll wear on the flight is a major stress reliever- it’s one less thing to think about before your departure, which will save you time on travel day, and if you plan correctly, could even save space in your suitcase!
My perfect outfit has lots of layers, so I can be prepared for different scenarios both as I travel and when I arrive at my destination. I also opt for neutrals so these pieces can be easily worn with other things I’ve packed for the trip. For example, I can wear the turtleneck and trench with a fun skirt, or the longline tee and scarf with jeans for a day of exploring.
Read on to see my favorite pieces for travel, and stay tuned for posts from NY coming soon!

SCARF
Not only does a scarf bring your overall look together, it can also be used as a blanket or pillow on the plane.
SUNGLASSES
I never travel without a chic pair of sunnies! Not only are they must-haves when the sun is out, they instantly finish your look and cover jetlagged eyes.
OVERSIZE TOTE
I like having all my travel essentials easily accessible, so an oversize tote is my go-to. It fits my laptop, magazines, travel beauty kit, phone, passport, and other things I’d like to have on hand for the flight and is still small enough to be considered a purse and not a carry-on suitcase.
LONGLINE TEE
Temperatures always fluctuate in flight, so it’s best to be prepared with layers! I love a longline tee I can wear on its own or easily layer underneath a turtleneck.
TRENCH COAT
Heavy coats are too bulky to carry through security or stuff into a tote, so I typically use a light trench as a protective later in case it rains or the flight crew decides to crank up the A/C.
TURTLENECK
I tend to get cold on flights and wearing a turtleneck helps keep the chill at bay.
LEGGINGS
I want to make sure I’m comfortable, sleek, and mobile when I’m traveling- you never know when you’re going to have to run to catch your flight!
SNEAKERS
Again, being comfy is key when you’re at the airport, so I always wear a stylish pair of sneakers that I can easily slip in and out of at security checkpoints.
