If you’ve been wearing the same two or three coats on repeat this winter, it’s time for a refresh! Luckily, this year’s coat trends are more fun and inspired than previous years, making it a great time to try new styles and add some much-needed inspiration to your daily wardrobe.
There are a bunch of cool trends out there, but here are four of my favorite types of coats – bundle up!
Everyone should have a wrap coat in a classic color that goes with everything, like camel or gray. To make it a standout, look for artful shapes and details, like draped collars or cocoon silhouettes that layer easily over chunky sweaters.
Gone are the days of shapeless puffers you only wear skiing or on trips to the snow! Today’s puffers come in fashion-forward shapes with feminine details like oversized collars and polished snaps. For an instantly head-turning look, choose one in a color other than black or with a waist-cinching belt.
Whereas faux fur used to feel a bit dated, this year’s take is much more fashion-forward and fun, making it a great pairing with more relaxed fabrics, like denim. Instead of a traditional hip or floor-length overcoat, try a new silhouette, like a fuzzy cropped version in a feminine color. Leopard print is also having a moment right now, so feel free to go wild!
If you want to look sophisticated and put together, the trench coat should be your go-to. This season's version comes with unique details, like ruffles or belle sleeves, and goes with everything.
