From black and red to classic black and white and everything in-between, plaid is having a major moment this season and I couldn’t be more excited to showcase it my way!  Plaid is a print that makes a casual statement, but it’s ultra versatile, with countless ways to make it your own. Whether you’re wearing a plaid button down with your fave pair of jeans or a plaid shirtdress with suede booties like I am, plaid print is the ultimate must have for Fall.

One of the things I enjoy most about my work as an ambassador for Old Navy is the challenge of translating monthly trends into my wardrobe without sacrificing my personal style aesthetic. With plaid being so relevant for Fall, this month’s focus is The Great Outdoors: finding inspiration through trekking, exploring and camping. While I’m not much an outdoorsy girl or big on camping, I can certainly rock a plaid print! So no matter how you feel most confident incorporating plaid into your wardrobe, there are tons of options from tops, vests and jackets to skirts and dresses.

Aside from fashion trends each season, I also love playing with styling trends. A big one I’m seeing for Fall is creative layering, so I figured what better way to showcase how I’m translating the plaid trend and creative layering into my own wardrobe, than by marrying the two?! For this look, I styled a plaid shirtdress with a scarf in the same print two different ways- one casual and one slightly dressy, and added a navy military-inspired coat as an accent piece. I love the way the colors came together to make a unique palette that’s on trend for Fall, but uniquely me.
