If I were stuck on a deserted island with only one piece of clothing, I would choose a shirtdress, hands down. Out of all the pieces in my closet, it’s the one silhouette that always fits (even with a growing baby bump!), is extremely versatile in terms of how it can be styled, and works in pretty much any scenario: on its own as a dress, worn over jeans as I have done here, as a beach cover-up or over a longer maxi dress or skirt as a light-weight kimono. It can even be layered under a blazer or sweater for winter and fall. The options are literally endless!

But for now, let’s focus on summer. I love this shirtdress because of its fun boho-inspired pattern and flowing bell sleeves that add just enough oomph to the overall look. I have been wearing it so often, I’ve actually had to come up with a bunch of new ways to style it!

Here, I’m wearing it as part of a straightforward everyday look with jeans and nude accessories, but I’ve also experimented with wearing it open with the white tee showing underneath. Of course, it looks amazing on its own, whether worn loose with sandals and a sunhat or belted with heels and a clutch.

Another reason to love the shirtdress? It’s perfect for traveling! A dress like this one, which is lightweight, is an ideal pick because it won’t wrinkle in your luggage and instantly perks up any look because of its shape and vibrant color (not to mention it looks awesome in Instagram photos!). The fabric is quick-drying, too, making it easy to wear at the beach, hand wash on the go.
