I’m all about keeping my skin silky smooth, especially during the summer when I live in sleeveless tops, skirts and dresses! My secret to doing so is a simple scrub I use twice per month to exfoliate and moisturize.

Coconut, lime and sugar make for a great scrub since coconut oil is an amazing moisturizer and sugar is a great exfoliant. In addition to the smell of lime zest making me feel as if I’m at a spa, the natural oils found in the citrus peels are antiseptic, antiviral, and antibacterial.

You can store the scrub at room temperature for weeks! During hotter months, I recommend storing it in the refrigerator so the coconut oil doesn’t liquify.

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Place 1/2 cup coconut oil In a small bowl. (Heat for 10 seconds in order to get a liquid consistency, if needed).

2. Add 1 cup granulated sugar to the coconut oil and mix.

3. Lastly, grate 3 tablespoons of lime zest into the coconut oil + sugar mixture and stir thoroughly.

4. To prep skin before applying scrub, shower in warm-to-hot water for 3-5 minutes- this will soften the skin, open pores and prepare for exfoliation, then pause or turn water off before application.

5. Apply the scrub in a circular motion with gentle pressure. Start from the feet up or the arms down, whichever you prefer. Rinse off with lukewarm water.
