In the world of plus fashion, the most complicated garment to make, and make well, is a pair of jeans. You’d think a universal closet staple like everyday denim wouldn’t come with so much stress and anxiety, but for lots of us, finding a perfect fit is almost impossible!
Through trials with dozens-and I do mean, dozens of brands throughout my life and career in fashion, I certainly have my list of faves!
Old Navy Rockstar, Mid-Rise or High Rise (here in size 0-20 and here from 16-30) | Lots of stretch, great for all shapes and sizes. True to size in denim and black washes, size up in grey, white and other color washes. (These, these and these are currently in my closet).
maurices | Size up, they run small, but fit like a glove with lots of stretch. (This grey pair is my all-time fave from this brand).
NYDJ | Great quality, fit is true to size, thick fabric with good stretch- doesn’t stretch out with wear or washes. (This pair is currently in my closet).
Talbots | The jegging is made of a medium-weight fabric with stretch, but still looks and feels like denim, has a great dark wash, true to size. (This pair is my fave from their recent denim launch).
James Jeans | Amazing quality, great fabric that doesn’t stretch out after each wear, true to size. (Just ordered this pair for Fall).
CJ by Cookie Johnson | Another great designer denim brand, with lots of color choices and of-the-moment options. Fit is true to size. (I own these).
