Why You Should Always Have Apple Cider Vinegar on Hand
I’ve talked about chia seeds and turmeric being natural powerhouses you should add to your daily routine. Today, we’re going to cover another wellness must-have you may already have in your kitchen: apple cider vinegar.
Since it’s a well-known natural disinfectant, you might already use it for common household chores like cleaning countertops, or use it as an ingredient in dressings and stews. But apple cider vinegar has also been used for centuries as a natural health remedy, helping to regulate blood sugar, digestion, curb cravings, lower blood pressure, and more!
Here are a few ways to use apple cider vinegar (abbreviated as ACV) for your everyday health. Like me, you may find it’s a staple you can’t live without!
ACV’s pH and antibacterial properties naturally help reduce inflammation and kill bacteria, making it a perfect addition to your skincare routine. Dab a little on a cotton swab and apply to acne and other affected areas as you would a toner.
Balance Blood Sugar
Apple cider vinegar has been shown to reduce sugar cravings and improve your body’s ability to naturally detoxify. To make it part of your daily routine, add a bit of ACV to salads or mix one tablespoon in your water before meals.
Relieve Acid Reflux
If you frequently get heartburn, ACV may be your new BFF. Various wellness guru's suggest you add a tablespoon of it to a cup of water and drink the mixture five minutes before meals to prevent acid reflux symptoms before they start.
Soothe Sunburns and Poison Ivy
If you’ve stayed out in the sun too long or have been exposed to poison ivy, draw a warm bath and add a cup of apple cider vinegar and some essential oils. The ACV will help balance and soothe your skin, while the oils will rehydrate it.
Fight Colds and Allergies
Because ACV helps with lymphatic drainage, it can help calm the symptoms of seasonal allergies and colds, like blocked sinuses and an irritated throat. Mix two tablespoons into a glass of water and drink three times a day – you’ll feel better in no time.
