I mentioned last week how one of my New Year’s resolutions is to make healthier food choices. One of our daily traditions in our house is sitting down for a hearty breakfast everyday, but with a new baby in the house, we’ve been having to come up with ways to make quick and easy morning meals that taste great and fuel us for the day ahead. If there’s one thing I’ve learned through my research on nutrition over the past few weeks, it’s that making sure your body is fueled first thing in the morning is super important. Even if I have to stay up all night tending to Mina, a healthy, balanced morning meal gives me the extra energy boost I need to get through the rest of the day!
The key to a quick, hearty morning meal is to be efficient with ingredients and prep. That’s why healthy toast toppings are my daily go-to as of late.
Here are four combinations I like to rotate throughout the week on whole grain toast. Some sweet and others savory, they fill me up and suit whatever I happen to be in the mood for. Feel free to mix and match your own ingredients — the sky’s the limit when you’re loading up your toast!
