When I saw this netted dress, it immediately reminded me of my childhood obsession with Ariel from The Little Mermaid. Coincidentally, PANDORA just released their princess-inspired Disney jewelry collection, and when asked to choose my favorite princess, I of course chose Ariel. Not only was I in love with Ariel’s flowing red hair- which was the first time I saw a Disney character with hair similar to mine, but I was intrigued by her unique love story.
Looking back as an adult, Ariel’s love story actually reminds me a lot of my own! While her father didn’t approve of her attraction to a human at first, over time he realized how strong her feelings were and eventually put her wants over his own. While my husband and I’s differences aren’t as drastic as being different species, our love story is reminiscent of Ariel and Eric’s, because we’re from different cultures. It wasn’t easy winning our parents over or going through the motions of everything leading up to our multi-cultural wedding, but I’m thankful for the way our parents put our wishes before their own wants, and let our relationship take its course. I like to think we will live happily ever after, just like Ariel and her prince charming did.
Thanks to PANDORA for sponsoring this post.
