The sweater I’m wearing is maternity, but I’m NOT pregnant! I always search maternity sections for basics like loose tops, sweaters and dresses because you just never know when you’ll find a gem that doesn’t even look maternity.

Trends are forever coming and going, and while most are way out of my style zone, there are some I actually really enjoy making my own.  After all, personal style is exactly that: it’s personal! The satin trend made me cringe until I laid eyes on this skirt. I’ve seen satin blouses, slinky cami’s and even wide leg silk pants that resemble pajamas- none of which are my cup of tea. As you already know, satin isn’t an easy fabric to wear. It’s often painfully shiny, crinkles easily and shows every single lump or bump no one of any size wants on display.

This satin skirt caught my eye for three reasons: 1. it’s my favorite, universally flattering midi length, 2. I never met a pleat I didn’t love and 3. it’s the most gorgeous bronze-brown I’ve ever seen. I’m loving the juxtaposition between silky satin and a heavy knit- such an interesting combination, and the neutral tones work beautifully together.

How do you feel about the satin trend?  Tell me in the comments!
