While I’m not one to wear something just because it’s flattering or suits my body type, there are ways to dress slimmer that anyone can put into practice, regardless of shape or size.
PROPORTION
Pairing certain garments together can create an amazing slimming effect, no matter what size you are. My favorite and the easiest one to pull this off is long over lean, meaning a longline top over skinny pants.
A longline top or oversize sweater conceals the largest part of the body, keeping the focus on the legs, which appear slimmer in fitted silhouettes in darker tones, like navy or black.

SILHOUETTE
An A-line full skirt or fit and flare dress is a great way to dress slimmer. It creates the illusion of an hourglass by nipping in the waist and flaring out over hips and thighs, leaving the actual size and width of the lower body to the imagination.

FIT
Wearing loose, flowy clothes that skim the body versus pull or cling conceals a tummy, lumps and bumps, giving the illusion of a slimmer physique.

COLOR
Wearing a single, dark color is slimming, but proportion and fit also matter. Opting for silhouettes that skim the body versus hugging curves all over, creates an even slimmer effect.

LAYERING
Strategic layering can make you look extremely slimmer than you actually are, by concealing your widest parts of your body.
A sleeveless jacket or vest over a long sleeve top and jeans conceals the lower body, giving the illusion of not carrying as much weight in those areas.

BELTING & TUCKING
Tucking in your top or using belts to accentuate your waist creates a great slimming effect.
This works exceptionally well when tucking a loose blouse into a fit and flare skirt- it can conceal a tummy and accentuate your waistline, no matter how big or small it is.

NUDE SHOES
Not only are nude shoes modern and chic, they also elongate the body, making you appear taller, especially when worn with skirts and dresses.
The key to maximizing the effect of a nude shoe is matching your skin tone as close as possible.
