As the years pass, my personal style is constantly changing. One thing I realize more and more each year though, is timeless essentials are key to building an amazing wardrobe. Looking for pieces that not only work year round, but also withstand trends, is what I look for in potential purchases. Here’s a rundown of what I’m adding to my wardrobe for Fall:
The Must have: Tall boots.
No matter your age or lifestyle, choose a style that works for your on and off duty lifestyle, appropriate for casual Friday at the office as well as date night.
A Modern Coverup: Oversize Coat.
Update your coat collection with a swing or trapeze silhouette, and pair it with a lean bottom, like leggings or skinny jeans.
Elevating Accessory: Felt hat.
With the 70′s trend going strong, most pieces are far too trendy for my personal style, but I do believe in translating trends through accessories, especially those that add instant luxe. Floppy hats look amazing with oversize, slouchy sweaters paired with leggings and tall boots.
Chic Basic: Knit Pant.
Take leggins to the next level by upgrading to a knit pant. A knit pant is simplistic, yet sophisticated, and works great underneath dresses, tunics and longline sweaters. (They’re are also my fave pants to travel in!) Remember, understated simplicity screams luxury, not the brand or price tag.
Statement Piece: Red shoes.
Red is the color of the season, but a pop of this bold color is all you need. Don’t be afirad to rock this trend on your feet by giving a neutral ensemble a modern refresh with unexpected color.
Casual Ease: Updated denim.
I love a great pair of distressed skinny jeans, but minamilism is key. Any more than two holes in the leg area skews young and casual, which can appear too trendy. The latest frayed hem style is a great, updated take on distressing and it’s ageless in a dark wash. The trick is sticking to darker tones if you’re going for polished and ageless. Go lighter for a younger, trendier look.
